Equipment upgrades keep QSPGA at cutting edge

Craig Sherrin, Southbank Institute director, says, “The biggest investment is in 17 G5 Macintosh computers for the prepress area.

“Our challenge is to continually upgrade equipment to ensure we meet industry and training package standards.

“These new computers will ensure our students are working on the latest equipment and developing skills which will help their future employers remain competitive.”

Other equipment improvements include A3 and A4 laser printers for the prepress area, a dye sublimation system for the screen printing area and new signwriting software.

The school has also received some help with its continual quest to keep up-to-date from Fuji-Xerox.

“Earlier this year, Fuji Xerox generously donated a 1250 Digital Colour Photocopier/ Printer to allow QSPGA to move into the digital print arena,” Sherrin says.

“It is this kind of support which allows us to ensure our students are ready to make their contribution to the economic development of the State and assist their employers to compete in the international arena.”
