Marshall says, “Our graphic systems division is the area of our business with most potential to improve market share, and a person with print industry background would be the ideal candidate.”
Fujifilm’s HR manager Erik Lucas will run the division until the new person is appointed. Graphic systems represents about 15 per cent of Fujifilm Australia’s business. Marshall is also looking at the structure of the company, which has developed considerably over the recent past, its Sericol inks and wide format division for instance has grown rapidly. Marshall says the company’s PacPrint stand will reflect the convergence that Fujifilm is currently experiencing.
Marshall says Fujifilm’s sheetfed inkjet press that was previewed at drupa is currently being field tested, although not in Australia, but he expects it to be available in another year or so.
Well known industry identity Carrigan had been running the Australian operation for the past two years, but in fact has been working with Fujifilm for the past 30 years through its various agencies. Carrigan says he is now looking for new opportunities in print, although not necessarily working a 40 hour week. He says, “I have plenty of knowledge and experience to offer and I don’t want to leave the industry yet.”
