FXGS secures $4.8m deal with EDS

The contract will see FXGS provide Managed Output Services (MOS) to deliver a strategic management service for all document production requirements in EDS, increasing business control, user productivity and reducing costs.

EDS regional executive A&NZ, Trisha Rogers, says Fuji Xerox will create an optimal print infrastructure for EDS by proactively managing all devices, providing detailed device utilisation analysis and reporting as well as integrating help desk support.

“Fuji Xerox will also replace EDS’ existing print equipment with new technology to output documents, the majority of which will be multifunction (print, copy, scan, fax) devices,” says Rogers.

She estimates the deal will result in a cost reduction of 26 per cent for EDS, while improving the print services available to the EDS team.

EDS Australia and Fuji Xerox Australia have also agreed to terms for Fuji Xerox to provide specialised printing services on the Burwood campus in NSW. Beginning in December, the PrintCentre will be open for use by all employees in Australia.

“This centre will enable us to create advanced print outputs,” explains Rogers. “There will be an onsite person running this specialised print shop and they will perform all associated print functions including binding, stapling and collating. This service will be invaluable for our teams producing client documentation, proposals and marketing collateral.”

Rogers says Fuji Xerox was chosen due to its reputation as a leader in the document management business, offering the most innovative array of document products, services and solutions in the industry.

“We have combined forces to make it easy for EDS and our clients to manage a complete digital office – from desktops to networks, to scanners, copiers, printers and faxes – while ensuring high service levels and controlling costs,” she says. “As a result, clients are able to better manage their end-user document environment, control complexity and boost productivity.”

Phil Chambers, managing director for Fuji Xerox Australia says this was an important contract for Fuji Xerox to win. “Not only does it reinforce our partnership with the Xerox EDS Agility Alliance, but it also highlights FXGS’ ability to deliver costs savings and help improve the efficiency of an organisation’s document processes, even one with the established outsourcing capabilities of EDS,” he says.

EDS is a major player in the Australian global services market, working with many of the nation’s leading government and business entities. EDS Australia employs a workforce of more than 6000 people and maintains offices in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and Perth.

Focusing on the financial services, communications, government and consumer, industry and retail markets, EDS Australia offers the full spectrum of IT services, from information technology, applications and business process services, to information technology transformation services.
