Printers must act now to enter the $15,000 GAMAA overseas industry research grant as the closing date, on March 14, looms. GAMAA says the research, which gives the beneficiary the freedom to explore an international market of their choosing, can be undertaken in marketing, new media, print, graphics design and other nominated disciplines related to print media.
The research it says will document the recipient’s experience and the outcomes will be used to improve the Australian print market. The winner will be announced at PrintEx15, May 13 to 15, at Sydney Showgrounds. Derek Williamson, digital image manager with the West Australian newspaper, was the 2014 winner. Williamson used his grant to explore trends in the UK and Europe in the continuous feed market, which he describes as ‘a new technology that plays a crucial role for long term sustainability of print and one that has the potential for substantial growth over coming years’. Applicants are advised to contact Karen Goldsmith, executive director of GAMAA, to discuss the opportunity in detail. To apply visit: http://gamaa.net.au.
