GAMAA alumni gather in Melbourne

The gathering incorporated a Denton style interview panel including Ian Metcalfe from Minds at Work, John Weichard from D2P, Jason Geary from Impro Melbourne and Elena Vereker from Federation Square. The panel was presided over by Colin Beattie from Somersault Consulting.

The venue's relaxed atmosphere enabled the 30 participants to get up close and personal with the panel as they discussed leadership and creativity in their workplaces. The presenters provided a wide range of examples including executing large events at Federation Square, developing the TV show Skithouse, and discussing how to implement creativity within the printing industry.

Over a gourmet dinner the participants were challenged to test their creative and leadership skills by participating in a case study. Each group presented their sales pitch to the panel and received constructive feedback.

The event received much praise with Ian Metcalfe describing the evening as "revolutionary within any industry I have seen". Participant Kelly Bourke, from SOS Media, said "I came down from Sydney especially for this event as it's always stimulating and great for networking".

The success of the July gathering will be replicated in October and will be sure to inspire participants. Gus Balbontin and Steve Strang, founding members of the Alumni and organisers, were pleased with the attendance and interest these gatherings have generated.
