Geon achieves PIAA SGP certificate

Kellie Northwood, sustainability and communications manager, Geon believes gaining the important SGP environmental certifications across the group was a major undertaking and required solid senior management commitment.

Northwood says, “It was a worthwhile and important commitment. There is an expectation, not just from our many customers, but from the wider community, that a large printing company like Geon should take a proactive stand with regard to environmental sustainability.”

She says, “We have spent the past year building a solid portfolio with 14001, 9001, FSC/PEFC chain of custody, carbon foot-printing and now SGP level 3 across every one of our sites.”

Ron Patterson, general manager of sales and marketing, Printing Industries says, “The Geon certification programme is the largest multiple site compliance programme undertaken by SGP to date.”

Patterson says, “Having 17 sites certified through our program from the organisation is both a testament to the environmental commitment of Geon and to the relevance of our Sustainable Green Print programme for industry companies of all sizes.”

“We hope this will encourage companies thinking about joining the programme to take the next step by contracting their local Printing Industries office to find out what it can mean to their business and how it can be undertaken over three levels in manageable steps.”
