The vice-president of GA Global Partners, Paul Brown, told ProPrint: "We have been involved in some truly huge global offerings in the printing sector.
"Solar Communications and others have been big, but this one is not only the largest single printing offering we have handled, but also the largest that any auctioneer in recent memory has handled – and I mean this not in terms of lots sold, but in terms of aggregate equipment value.
"Now keep in mind, we have handled auctions many times this size in terms of value, just not in the printing sector, which is one of our strongest areas of expertise, and you would be hard pressed to find any auctioneer that has sold more Heidelbergs than we have globally."
When asked which countries would be represented among bidders, Brown said interest had come from so many places that "it would be easier to name the countries not interested".

He said GA Global Partners had received queries from the US, Asia, Europe, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, South Africa, Egypt, Israel and the UAE.
"The Buhrs iMail 300 in Melbourne, the Acoro A7 perfect binder in Sydney and the Heidelberg CD 74 press with UV in Brisbane are three of the most asked-about items, as you can imagine," he told ProPrint.
Melbourne-based Dominion Group is jointly managing the auction, which will occur in Melbourne on 23 May, Sydney on 28 May and Brisbane on 30 May. Click here for details.
Meanwhile, Dominion will also sell the remaining assets from liquidated Melbourne printer Vega Press on 15 May.
