Get Connected Conference recognises Business Achievement

Entries are being called for businesses who’ve shown environmental initiative, good business practices, education and training and occupational health and safety initiatives.

The new addition to the awards is the Best in OH&S Initiatives, which will be judged on how effective consultative processes have been implemented. Businesses will also be rewarded for the implementation of risk management programmes and any measurable results from these, safety training programmes, any processes used to identify OHS responsibilities and comply with OHS legal obligations, and strategies for improving return to work outcomes, minimising workers compensations costs.

Best in Environmental Initiatives will be judged on cleaner production initiatives that maximise efficiency and resource utilisation and lower emissions to the environment on a unit production basis. Initiatives to reduce emissions to the environment, waste minimisation, recycling practices, energy and water saving and other environmental achievements will all be considered.

The Best in Education and Training rewards structured staff training programs, youth awareness programs, employee orientation and other training initiatives.

Best in Innovative Business Practices will look at benchmarking, the application and outcomes of using the Print21 and Business Diagnostic Tools, examples of certified business practices, market development and diversification. A commitment to business ethics, customer service and human resource principles and demonstrated business innovation will also be considered.

Nominations close Friday October 7 and the winners will be announced at the Get Connected Conference Gala Dinner on Friday November 18.

The conference, which runs from 16-19 November at the Sydney Shangri-La hotel, is a consolidation of Printing Industries NSW Conference and Business Awards, the LIA’s Printacular Biennial Conference and the Forum of Asian Graphic Arts Technology.
