Industry awards and technical components will run as planned, but requests from a number of participating countries have seen the rest of the conference postponed.
Printing Industries’, marketing and media services national director, Joe Kowalewski says visa processing delays were a major reason for the rescheduling, and negotiations are continuing between the nine participating countries to finalise a new date, which will most likely be May 2006.
Kowalewski says that while the change presented some short term challenges, the rescheduled event would provide even greater value for delegates and sponsors.
“Planning is already underway to amend parts of the programme,” he says. “The LIA will again assist with its technical input. With the additional timing now available the overall programme will benefit.
“Our marketing campaign will continue in Australia and Asia and, supported by all participating nations, will ensure even stronger branding and awareness of Get Connected Sydney.”
Printing Industries and the LIA will continue with their scheduled 2005 programme elements that are not transferable – including the various award presentations.
Printing Industries NSW Region PRINTNSW Business Achievement Awards, Member Awards and the GAMAA / LIA National Graduate Scholarship Prize will be presented, as scheduled, on Friday November 18 at the Shangri-La Hotel Sydney.
The LIA’s technical presentations have been relocated to the Turner Hall at the Ultimo Campus of Sydney TAFE on November 18, beginning at 8.30am.
Leading the day session will be noted USA based industry guru, Robert Rosen, who will examine what it is that sets the industries leading CEOs apart from the rest. Phil Lawrence, well known industry expert, will speak on why looking after the environment is good for business.
Other speakers will address topics such as, what managers need to know about colour management, an evaluation of global colour standards, taking the mystery out of workflow processes, what is in the future for graphics applications software and has the offset printing press reached the technology limit.
A debate on whether a paper proof will still be needed in 2010 will be followed by the closing presentation by Malcolm Auld, managing director of Mad Marketing.
Full details of the rescheduled conference components will be available as they are finalised at www.getconnected2005.com.au
