All Gmund papers can now be proved to be produced according to the directives of responsible forest management worldwide.
The trademark of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) indicates that the wood used for a product comes from a forest which is well managed according to strict environmental, social and economic standards.
Gmund now meets these strict directives and gives a guarantee that its papers fulfil the criteria. Excluded are only special sorts.
With the FSC certification, Gmund ties up to its earlier achievements in the environmental sector. In 1991, the GMUND collection Silencium, consisting of 100 per cent post consumer waste, was awarded as first fine paper in the world with the environmental label "Blue Angel".
In 2002, Gmund installed a complex facility for the cleaning of effluents with ozone. Consequently the innovative paper mill was awarded with the Bavarian State Medal for special merits in the environmental field.
Gmund says the FSC certification prove one more time that high end text and cover papers can very well be produced while respecting and protecting the environment.
