A Goa digital billboard in Brisbane was recently hacked, showing pornographic material for up to three minutes.
The billboard was located on Milton Road, in Milton – one of the busiest roads in the city.
“At 9.23am [Sunday] morning, a single digital LED screen began to show inappropriate content of a pornographic nature,” the company said.
“The transmission of this material ran for between a number of seconds and up to 3½ minutes.”
The outdoor media operator managed to shut down the screen within minutes of the inappropriate material airing.
However, motorists who were at the location when it was aired saw the display and took to social media to post about it.
“Companies that don’t take their IT security seriously will suffer and suffer. It really is time for a rating system on IT security for listed companies. You wouldn’t want to be investing your hard-earned funds into a company that exposes you to liabilities like this that will result in losses at some point in the debacle,” one of the people said on Reddit.
