Government tender demonstrates equality says PIAA

Led by Centrelink, a number of Commonwealth Government Agencies have banded together to develop a request for tender for print management, creative and design, print services and warehousing and distribution.

The Association continues that the Request For Tender (RFT) recognises that the printing industry is dominated mainly by small to medium sized businesses and maintains the working relationship between the government agencies and their print suppliers.

Printing Industries says it is confident that the nature of the RFT will ensure that the Commonwealth Government receives value for money though a competitive panel system.

Commenting on the tender opportunity, Philip Andersen, CEO of Printing Industries says he was pleased that the Government had decided to pursue the panel approach as opposed to other models which are exclusively based on the print management model.

Andersen says, “We believe that the retention of close and ongoing relationships with printing suppliers will help deliver value for money to the government.”

He continues, “We are also convinced that such relationships will also deliver other benefits to the Commonwealth Government such as greater responsiveness, opportunity for increased innovation, and overall improvements to service and quality.”

The closing date for the tender is 2pm Canberra time June 9 and industry participants wishing to bid for the tender first need register with AusTender.

Andersen also says that Printing Industries will be closely monitoring the new arrangements to ensure an efficient and effective outcome for all stakeholders.

He says, “Government procurement remains an important source of activity for our industry and we are determined to ensure that the opportunity is available to all interested industry participants, irrespective of company size.”
