The types of applications that Elmag UV solutions enable are:
- full size UV varnish like a Steinmann Colibri roller coating line using the second colour of the offset machine only
- Spot UV varnish through Photopolymer or another cheaper material (adhesive PVC or similar) using the second colour of the offset machine only
- full size UV or spot matt varnish using the inker of the first colour and normal offset plate
- Matt and high gloss varnish at the same time using both colours of the off set machine
This kind of technology is growing rapidly in Europe, due to its low cost and the high speed of production, and is winning plenty of orders previously destined for screen printing technology.
The Elmag concept is to use a standard two-colour offset machine that provides distinct advantages including easy maintenance, ready availability of spare parts, high speed of production, and ease of use.
Elmag uses both the colours of the offset machine, the first colour will be used to put directly from the inker, matt UV or acrylic varnish, and the second colour will be modified with the roller coater and will be used to put the high gloss UV varnish from three to seven gsm.
This modification can be done directly in the print centre, Elmag suggests for instance that printers choose a blue Roland Record machine with the Roland Matic system or chiller to use alcohol in the dampening system.
Elmag will supply used Roland machines, but suggests Australian printers source them direct.
