Green certification for all Australian Paper’s mills

In addition to PEFC across all its mills Australia wide, Australian Paper has dual certification with FSC at its NSW and Victorian mills, which came in to effect last month.

Australian Paper says the chain of custody certification such as PEFC and FSC provide a guarantee that the manufacturing and processing activities throughout the supply chain conforms to environmental and sustainable forest management standards.

A company statement says, “The chain of custody standard provides a mechanism to track timber or forest products from a certified forest to an end user in the supply chain. This covers all stages of processing, transformation, manufacturing and distribution.”

Further to this development, Australian Paper has launched a range of papers called ENVI, which the company says is 100% carbon neutral. ENVI has been accredited by the Federal Government’s Department of Climate Change and carries their Greenhouse Friendly Logo.

Jon Ryder, Australian Paper GM says, “Although chain of custody accreditation for all of our mills in Australia is a great achievement, we see climate change as the biggest challenge facing global communities today.”

Ryder adds, “In addition to our recent achievements in sustainable forest management through PEFC and FSC accreditation, we are in the midst of launching a range of carbon neutral papers.”
