ProfileMaker 5 software is now packaged in three, vertically focused solutions – PM5 Publish Pro, PM5 Packaging Pro and PM5 Photostudio Pro – that provide optimal price/performance levels for professionals in prepress-publishing, multicolour packaging-textile printing and studio photography environments. Each solution is designed to provide only the functionality required for each specific workflow, thereby maintaining ease of use. Individual functional modules and additional tools are also available giving users the flexibility to expand their packages as their needs grow.
In addition, the functional modules in the ProfileMaker software suite have been extensively enhanced in new ProfileMaker 5 for building, editing and working with ICC 4 color profiles. These enhancements include many new features, extensions to existing functions and more intuitive user interface updates. A new process control bundle is also being introduced, Eye-One Process Control, for print verification.
The Eye-One iO scanning chart reader brings hands-free, ease-of-use, and affordable automation to GretagMacbeth’s award-winning, Eye-One Pro hand-held colour measuring device. When it is available later this year, the new Eye-One iO solution will add another level of convenience to measuring colour test charts for current and future owners of the defacto industry standard Eye-One Pro device.
The Eye-One “iO” scanning table features a revolutionary new design in which the Eye-One Pro is mounted in a holder that moves like a “scara-type” robot by means of two pivot points to capture colour information from any test chart. The iO gives users a choice of two reflective scanning options: white backing for use with colour management applications; or black backing as an option to meet ISO specifications. This device also comes with an optional transparent base to measure various transparent materials. iO further enables characterisation of thick to very thick substrates, such as the ones used in textile printing or in special printing applications like ceramics or decor printing. The current large installed base of Eye-One owners will be able to add the new scanning table to their existing Eye-One configuration. In addition to being sold as a separate accessory, it will also be available in a bundled package for new users.
