Gulmen invites label printers to LabelExpo

Gulmen will be on the stands of two of his partners during the show – label press manufacturer Gidue and screen printing and finishing developer Smag. Gulmen says, “There is no better place than LabelExpo for label printers to see the production solutions in full flight. Both Gidue and Smag will have their top management on the stand to answer any questions and talk through solutions.”

Gulmen has just installed a new Gidue into a Sydney label printer, and has also just put in a Smag finishing machine into NSW. At LabelExpo Smag will have a new 30m/min semi-rotary flatbed screen unit, which Gulmen says offers benefits to offset, flexo and digital label converters. With a maximum print width of 340mm and a 340mm repeat length, the print station will be operating mono-colour on a Digital Galaxie, in conjunction with a semi-rotary flexo station and a semi-rotary die cutting station.

Gulmen says, “The use of a flatbed screen offers a number of advantages to label converters producing short runs. Flatbed screens can be prepared in-house, more quickly and much less expensively than rotary screens which are usually prepared by outside suppliers. Flatbed screen printing also offers greater ink density, opacity and higher definition images than rotary screens. Also, more special effects are possible with flatbed screens, giving label converters producing short to medium runs several competitive advantages in addition to improved cost-effectiveness.”

Among the Gidue solutions at the show is Digital Flexo where the printer does not manually operate printing and register adjustments. Gulmen says, “Printing during set-up and production is automatically operated by the press. Digital eyes and fingers (Print-Tutor Camera/Servo combination) on each print unit substitute the hands and eyes of the operator. Dot gain is digitally controlled and adjusted for perfect print quality during production. Wastes are reduced to less than 10 meters for eight colours set-up. This means the press operator can focus on achieving the highest printing quality and the best productivity on the press. With the Digital Flexo technology Gidue introduces a new future of efficiency for the labels and packaging industry.

Gidue will be showing a host of other solutions including the Snow Ball high-speed matrix stripping system for the self-adhesive industry, and three presses, the redesigned Combats M1 and M3, and the Master M5.
