HP launches 30 A1 per minute printer

HP has launched what it says is the fastest wide format production printer on the market, pumping out up to 30 A1 sheets a minute, or 1800 an hour.

The PageWide XL 8000 prints computer-aided design drawings, maps, posters, and point-of-sale jobs in both colour and black and white and is aimed at small print firms looking for a high-speed, affordable machine.

The manufacturer says it can print monochrome at 23 metres a minute, 60 per cent faster than the quickest LED printer.

In colour HP says it outperforms even super-fast Memjet machines which print at up to 800 A1 sheets an hour.

It says the new portfolio, which also includes multi-function and technical printers, provides low operation costs driven by life-long printheads, high ink efficiency and cloud-based support.

HP says the production printing market has traditionally been led by monochrome-only LED printers, requiring customers to also operate wide format inkjet colour printers to address colour job.

According to the company ‘The new printers consolidate workflow to deliver mixed black and white and colour prints in half the time it would take to manually collate documents produced on multiple printers’.
