iGen3 poised for NZ launch

The iGen3, which Xerox describes as a digital production press, is a high volume, high quality digital press that produces “graphic arts quality, sheet to sheet, job to job”.

Driven by high powered graphic arts RIPs from Creo, the iGen3 can run full variable data at top speed or very close to it, according to Fuji Xerox’s general manager production systems business group Bryce Biggs. The press is capable of producing 110 A4 pages per minute, and there are a number of sites around the world where it is producing better than 1 million impressions per month.

Biggs said that the decision to bring the iGen3 to market in New Zealand was based on the success of the press internationally, following its commercial launch in 2002.

“This is a statement of our commitment to this growing industry and a recognition of the opportunities for our clients in this area.

“iGen3 is a very exciting technology for us and further evidence that Fuji Xerox New Zealand is fully committed to digital colour print.”

The iGen3 will be supported strongly from Fuji Xerox’s headquarters in Tokyo and Shanghai.

Murray Miskelly, marketing manager production systems business group, pointed out several of the key features behind the press, including its ability to use multiple stocks within a single run, and its incredible reproduction quality.

“The iGen3 can reproduce 85 per cent of Pantone colours, which is a wider gamut than offset,” he said.

Every page can be customised, colour can be printed together with black and white, and full finishing capabilities are available: saddle stitching, three knife trimming and even UV overgloss are all able to be done inline with the iGen3.
