Industry calls for young blood

Financed partially by the Innovation and Business Skills Council (IBSA), the project also aims to promote information to industry about the benefits and support available for workplace training.

Consultant Rob Gullan has been appointed to produce marketing material for use in each state and to consult with the industry on the kind of materials it believes would be the most effective.

Gullan says it was important to be able to attract good, motivated young people and to ensure employers were well informed about mechanisms for supporting the skills development of their employees.

“Once consultations are completed with industry and education stakeholders, the recommended marketing materials will be benchmarked against the new ICP05 Printing and Graphic Arts Training Package so that they can be used in all states and territories,” he says.

“The criterion is that they will be suitable for use by small, medium and large enterprises, as well as small and large training providers and schools.”

Gullan said the material could include case studies of young people already working in the industry, brochures describing various careers within the printing industry, posters showing training package qualifications, posters/fold outs illustrating career opportunities, and flyers showing how the training package works.
