Industry farewells well-known icon

Bill Moore was previously managing director of the Aldus group, comprising Seligson & Clare Australia and ACP Polychrome. Seligson & Clare Australia was the ANZ distributor for Heidelberg before the press maker established a direct presence in the local market.

Following his retirement, the Moore family bought the Aldus Engineering web converting equipment business from Heidelberg and Bill Moore became a non-executive director, a position he held until his death.

Ian Guanaria, general manager of Aldus told Australian Printer that Moore was a well known identity in the industry. He was a more than capable business manager as well as a valued friend to many in the printing industry.

Guanaria says, “I’ve probably spent more time with Bill than with my own mother, who also passed away a few days before Bill, he was always there for advice when we needed him and we will miss his input and friendship.

“He was a very outgoing person and he enjoyed his tennis and golf. Bill was a member of the Royal Melbourne Golf Club as well as the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron. He was definitely a people person and he would never forget people’s names and he put a lot of faith and trust in the people that worked for him.”
