IPMG on upward trend as other print firms slump in BRW’s top earners

The list, which is based on research by IbisWorld, ranks Australian-based private companies according to their estimated revenues for the year ending 30 June.

IPMG is the highest ranked printing company on the list, coming in at number 80 with revenues of $530m for the 2009/10 financial year.

IPMG, whose companies include Hannanprint, Offset Alpine Printing and Sync Communications, rose 10 places on the list, having come in at number 90 last year.

BRW said the company’s revenues were up 10% to $530m, while its employee count also rose by 11.9% to 1,965.

Geon was the only other company from the ‘printing, publishing and recorded media’ sector to make the list, coming in at 260.

BRW said Geon’s revenues fell 11.9% to $204.2m for the year, dragging it down 45 places after coming in at number 215 last year.

Moore Business Systems, which came in at 444 on last year’s list, was no longer eligible after its acquisition by Argus and subsequent public listing earlier this year.

Printing franchise company Kwik Kopy also dropped out of the top 500 due to “insufficient revenue” after coming in at number 482 last year.

Paper and packaging manufacturing giant Visy was knocked off the top spot, coming in at number six after finishing at number one in last year’s list. The company’s estimated revenues were $3.5bn.

Meanwhile, Adelaide-based Detmold Packaging came in at number 143, down 16 places from last year’s list. The company recorded revenues of $350m, down 4.4% from last year.

Upstream Print Solutions, which was recently acquired by Fuji Xerox Australia, dropped eight places to sit at number 456. The company’s revenues dropped by 1.6% to $97.8m.

Linfox, which operates print management company Foxprint Solutions, came in at number 13 on the list.
