Kodak’s new Prosper S20 inkjet now available

The Prosper S20 is designed to be mounted on a heatset or coldset web press, where it will be able to apply variable data to pages as they are being printed offset. It will be avalilable through both Kodak and manroland.

Steve Ford, director sales and strategic product groups for Kodak Australasia says, “With the quality, productivity, and cost of offset, the Prosper S20 imprinting system adds the power of variable data to inline production and makes hybrid printing a reality for print and marketing service providers of all kinds. The broad portfolio of digital printing solutions from Kodak gives customers the ability to pursue the opportunities that make the most sense for their businesses.”

The new system boasts a 4.16-inch imprinting width with speeds up to 2,000 fpm (600 mpm) at 600×300 dpi. It features pigment-based inks that Kodak says deliver permanence, rich blacks, with scratch and water-resistance on a wide variety of commercial substrates. Kodak adds that the system integrates with existing offset presses or finishing lines and enables new revenue opportunities, adding that, if total permanence is not a priority, dye-based inks are an alternative option to reduce total cost of ownership. The solution is also available as an upgrade to the Prosper S10 imprinting system.

The company adds that the Prosper S20 imprinting system integrates into existing production processes, enabling full utilisation of current equipment, while driving new advertising opportunities with highly targeted products, including: personalized, variable promotions by location; micro-promotions using geo-coded maps; barcodes; coupons; and variable gaming and contests. It says that variable data promotions have proven to generate higher response rates, and print and marketing service providers now are able to improve return on marketing investment for their clients by employing hybrid printing solutions to deliver these targeted campaigns. It says the system is available for immediate delivery and can include up to 12 print stations and 24 print heads.
