Komori production back on track

The Tsukuba Plant and Komori Machinery resumed normal operation on March 22, 2011 and they have shipped presses to China, North America, Europe, India and Southeast Asia.

Although both plants have resumed normal operation, some partner companies have expressed concerns about restrictions on operating hours due to the implementation of planned outages in response to increased demand for electric power in the summer, and Komori says it need to pay attention to this in the future.

It adds that, with many of its primary partner companies located in the area from the northern part of Ibaraki Prefecture to the Tohoku region, Komori had to go to pick up parts during the period when fuel supplies were unstable immediately after the earthquake.

However, the situation has now returned to normal due to the major improvement in the fuel supply and the reopening of most of the roads. Komori is providing reconstruction support to partner companies directly impacted by the earthquake and is receiving temporary assistance from other companies.

While it expects some minor delays in the shipment of some machines, Komori Machinery expects to return to its original plan by the end of April 2011, and the Tsukuba Plant is scheduled to return to its original plan by the end of May.
