Kwik Kopy St Leonards’ owner Madonna Ratnakumar says buying a new Epson T2700D will ensure profits rise and work with faster turnaround remains in-house. Speaking with Australian Printer, co-owner Ratnakumar says the store in Sydney’s north prints several architectural plans for internal use, and the Epson would allow them to do it much faster and more efficiently.
“We bought the Epson because it prints on thin boards such as architectural plans and it’s much faster and quicker than the Oce,” she says. Ratnakumar says the husband and wife team has been diligent in it endeavours to make new connections and has grown the business steadily over the past two years. “In recent years we have been growing our business, which has involved chasing new markets to get more work and grow our client base,” she says. The eight-year-old family business also began experiencing high demand in outdoor and wide format products which led to them investing in a wide format printer last year. “We had to invest in a Roland 640 to supplement the growing demand for outdoor printing, which we were outsourcing at the time,” Ratnakumar says. “Now, with Roland we are able to provide our customers with high quality work with fast turnarounds as well as increasing our profits as we keep the jobs in-house.” Ratnakumar, who has been in the print industry for the past eight years and has a corporate finance background, says she wants to let people know that the St Leonards Kwik Kopy store has more than meets the eye. “Whenever people look at a Kwik Kopy store they assume that the store prints the usual, such as business cards and stationary, but we have capabilities that allow us to do much more,” she says. “Our machines are able to provide fast work with high quality, so we have been going out and getting the word out to customers to let them know what we can offer them.” The company owners are also seeking to hook some clients in the in wider variety of industries. “We are already supplying prints to the health sector, such as some health funds, but we are trying to break into some big sectors as well,” Ratnakumar says.
