Formerly in the office products space, Kyocera is making a push into commercial print, and is launching the five new printers at the graphic arts markets.

The Biomass toner uses 30 per cent renewable raw materials. The company says this means a 30 per cent reduction of CO2 emissions compared to the manufacture of conventional toners. Biomass avoids any effect on food production as it depends exclusively on certified cultivation. Kyocera says it produces up to 75 per cent less waste than conventional systems, and the drum also lasts up to thirty times longer than normal.

The new range of mid- and high-speed Taskalfa multifunction monochrome and colour devices is based on a common engine. The new range of devices incorporates advanced workflow integration features and with engine speeds ranging from 30-80 ppm. They have an EFI Fiery controller for colour fidelity and consistency.

The company says the amorphous silicon drum results in higher drum photosensitivity and durability, leading to greater consistency in image production. It claims images benefit from pin-sharp contrast, smooth shades and colour gradation. In addition, a new carrier auto-streaming system (CASS) continually refreshes the carrier in the toner system, which maintains the integrity of image quality throughout the life of the device.

Release date is the second half of this year.
