Queensland trade label printer and solutions supplier Label Power is bringing a new inkjet label printer by VIPColor to the Australian market, to furnish on-demand labellers with rapid-fire colour production. The VP700, powered by Memjet Waterfall technology, can print at 18m per minute, or 304mm per second – meaning labellers can produce 100 full colour labels, 100mm by 150mm, ready to go in less than a minute. It is designed to be up to the task of variable colour label printing, at resolutions of up to 1600 by 1600dpi. James Malone, managing director of Label Power, says the machine provides flexibility and convenience through its ability to print the exact batch quantity and fulfil up-to-the-minute requirements. He says the VP700 slots in well amongst the company’s raft of variable information label printing systems, with a ‘surprisingly low cost of ownership’ for a short-run specialist machine that can swiftly print the latest label data and avoid costly errors.

The VP700 label printer
He tells AP, “The VP700 can create any quantity of colour labels exactly when and where you needed them, and will enable our customers the increased flexibility to meet their labelling needs fast. “A flexible short run device like this can eliminate the need for pre-printed label inventories, freeing customers from tying up their money in stock on the warehouse floor, which may have to go to waste.” A cut and present feature allows the printer to produce just one label at a time, for sampling and prototyping, to save customers time in getting approvals from clients. Malone says the machine is intuitive for inhouse label production and private labelling needs, and is an affordable option with five low cost 250ml ink cartridges onboard. With the roll unwinder incorporated into the steel body of the machine, VIPColor claims that the VP700 is ‘the most compact Memjet printer on the market.’ It will print on media types ranging from paper to synthetic labels and tags with a matte or gloss finish. Malone says Label Power can also supply silver, gold and clear synthetic inkjet stocks. The Queensland distributor also offers a range of label applicators to work in tandem with the VP700 and provides trade label printing, from its Brisbane head office and manufacturing plant. Malone says the company specialises in variable information printing systems, enabling clients to print variable labels and tags on demand. It supplies full colour industrial digital label printing and converting systems including the reel-to-reel Primera CX1200 digital press and FX1200 digital diecutter. Nearing 20 years of operations, the company has also supplied software for label design and print since 1997, and currently offers Bartender, Labelview and Nice Label.
