Major western narrow web press manufacturers will be present at Labelexpo Asia, including Gallus, who will demonstrate the latest incarnation of the EM 280 that incorporates redesigned and upgraded printing units, plus a completely new central touch-screen control panel.
Gallus will be bringing together a number of companies who represent all elements of the UV flexographic workflow for the first time at any show in the world. The companies taking part so far are: JM Heaford (plate mounting), Rotec Gmbh (plates and sleeves), Zeller and Gmelin (inks), Avery Dennison (pressure-sensitive materials), Rotometrics (rotary tooling), IST Metz (UV curing systems), AVT (web inspection), Esko Graphics (prepress and pre production systems) and Leomat (slitter rewinder systems).
During the show, live UV flexo combination jobs will be produced on a Gallus EM 280, using elements from all the suppliers. Also, uniquely in Asia, an integrated quality workflow system from AVT is demonstrated, linking the Gallus EM 280 press to the Leomat slitter rewinder via a server link.
Nilpeter will show representative samples of all its press lines at Labelexpo Asia, Mark Andy will be showing its LP3000 narrow web press working with the new VSR300 rewinder, Focus will launch the new Reflex single color flexo converting press, and the new generation Proflex, with web widths of 250 and 330mm wide, will be on display.
As well as the major Western press manufacturers, many Chinese and Asia-Pacific press manufacturers are showing machines for the first time at Labelexpo Asia.
Digital printing for labels will be another focus of Labelexpo Asia, with HP and Roland showing digital presses and relevant consumables, and RFID is expected to be a focus for many local visitors.
Also on show at Labelexpo Asia is a wide range of ancillary equipment. These include plate mounters and proofing systems, mounting tapes, flying splice units, corona treatment and web cleaning systems, web tension control systems, inks, varnishes and foils.
Suppliers of coating systems, silicones and adhesive systems used in the manufacture of pressure-sensitive products will also be present. There are even a number of label printers exhibiting, which is not something found at other global Labelexpo shows.
A Labelexpo seminar programme will highlight the use and performance of UV flexo and combination process presses; look at new labelstock materials; examine the latest advances in artwork; assess the changing requirements for smart, smart active and intelligent labelling solutions and how they can be achieved; look into the future with digital printing opportunities; and have a key focus on how the label industry can meet the demands of the fastest growing auto-ID market in the world with special sessions on RFID smart labels.
Labelexpo Asia, part of the world leading Labelexpo Global Series, is only in its second year, and lthe first event was a resounding success, attracting over 5000 visitors.
Label and package printing in China accounts for some 48 per cent of the country’s total printing sector – and the Chinese Government is ready to allow more investment in the package and label-printing sector than in other printing sectors. There are expected to be around 39,000 packaging printing, label and converting plants in China by the end of this year – and new businesses in these sectors are increasing by about 10 per cent a year. The output value of China’s printing industry was more than RMB260m in 2004 – and by 2020 China’s printing industry looks like it will be a world leading printing power, ranked amongst the world’s most advanced nations.
