He says organisers expanded Labelexpo to include a sixth hall featuring digital solutions, probably the fastest growing segment of the label industry. Here, there were new and enhanced digital printing systems from well established players such as Agfa, HP and Xeikon, together with offerings from new entrants in the digital label market, such as Durst and Stork.
Meanwhile, in further recognition of the industry’s interest in digital, an extensive seminar programme held throughout the show featuring key players in the industry in the Digital hall, styled Digital Label Experience was hailed a success by organisers.
The show wasn’t just about digital however, with enhanced product offerings from industry legends, among them press manufacturers, Gallus, Mark Andy, Nilpeter and AB Graphic International among the printing finishing and converting specialists.
Coinciding with the expo was the Label Industry Global Awards, with almost 500 people attending the gala dinner and award ceremony at the Albert Hall in Brussels on the first night of the show.
The following winners were announced:
- R. Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award: Michael Fairley
- Label Industry Award for Continuous Innovation: EskoArtwork
- Label Industry Award for New Innovation: EFI Jetrion
- European Converter of the Year Award: Rako Group
- Green Award: GEW
While numbers were down two per cent on the previous show, organisers say many exhibitors reported more visitors and more sales on their stands.
Labelexpo Europe returns September 27-30, 2011, a Tuesday to a Friday, in response to demand from visitors who find it more convenient to attend the show on a week day.
Brian Moore’s detailed report from the halls of the Brussels Expo appears in the November issue of Australian Printer magazine.
