LIA announces finalists for graduate of the year

The LIA outlines that the annual awards night is one of the most important events in the Graphic Arts calendar, when recognition is given to the industry’s most talented graduates.

Keynote speaker for the event will be Chris Trethewy, critical care physician, department of rural critical care – conjoint lecturer, school of medicine and public health, University of Newcastle. Trethewy’s presentation will be entitled ‘Dealing with life and death on the wild side.’

Bob Lamont, executive officer of LIA NSW Division says, “The standards of the entrants are high, which is no different to previous years. The judges had a difficult time identifying the winner as there was little difference in the standard of the top finalists.”

The winner on the night will then go on to compete against finalists throughout Australia for the LIA/GAMAA $16000 National Graduate Scholarship.

The NSW finalists are:

  • Sarah Donvito, pre press – Sinnott Bros
  • Ben Chamberlain, press – IntoPrint
  • Phillip Marshall, press – Amcor Cartons
  • Wayne Dorch, finishing – Pettaras Press
  • Tim Adams, finishing – STI Lilyfield Printing
  • Dayane Knox, screen – Mills Styrox
  • Chantel Bailey, screen – Hann Print
  • Marko Ristovski, pre press – Alfred Johns

The awards ceremony will be held in Abbotsford, Sydney on May 4.
