LIA event guests to witness map production

The tour, which will be held on November 14, in Bathurst, will be hosted by expert staff from the Graphic Services Department, according to the LIA.

Visitors will spend around 45 minutes at each production area including cartography; prepress, digital printing and map capture; printing and finishing; restoration and digital imaging.

The LIA also says visitors will witness the various stages of production from image capture through to prepress, CTP, printing and finishing. Also, Graphic Services has embarked on a huge project to scan and digitise maps and drawings that date back to the first years of colonisation in NSW.

The LIA invitation says, “This is a thoroughly fascinating and highly technical area that will leave you more than impressed at the scope, quality and enormity of such a venture.”

Following the tour industry representatives will meet again at the Oxford Hotel for dinner and a mini seminar presentation, including talks from four entertained industry experts.
