Epson will be taking visitors around its North Ryde facility and providing an "insight in today's and tomorrow's digital print world", according to Lithographic Institute of Australia (LIA) NSW president David Wells.
"The LIA sees the importance of the digital world and its effect on the traditional industry and we feel it's important the industry gets to see the inner workings of one of the largest suppliers of digital to the world," he told ProPrint.
Wells compared the emergence of digital to the way in which lithographic supplanted letterpress and said it was vital people became exposed to a technology that would continue to grow in importance.
“It is rare that the industry gets to be shown through the inner working of such a major player in the digital world such as Epson Australia," he said.
The LIA has organised the 28 February tour in conjunction with the Label and Tag Manufacturers Association of Australia, Screenprinting and Graphic Imaging Association of Australia, Junior Printing Executives' Association and Printing Industries Association of Australia.
Wells said all the industry bodies had united for the first time in order to boost attendance and make the event more relevant.
Epson business unit manager Craig Heckenberg told ProPrint his company had "jumped at the chance" to demonstrate new technology and explain the direction Epson was heading.
The new products on display would include a label press (SurePress L-4033A), eco-solvent printer (SureColor SC-S30600) and inkjet-based CTP system, he added.
