Litho Superpak is first in Asia Pacific with Ipex-launched Heidelberg CX 102

The 26-staff folding carton specialist has replaced a CD 102 with the new machine, which was launched at Ipex.

Litho Superpak’s new press is a six-colour machine spec’d out with twin coaters, opening up capabilities for one-pass UV coating.

General manager Avi Rubinstein told ProPrint: “There is an advantage of being an early adopter. The logic of having the newest technology is very clear.

“Our logic is we can’t afford to buy anything but the very best. If you are going to spend money, it needs to the best we can afford and justify.”

“We want our operators to work on the best and the safest machines possible. It’s important they are well spec’d for safety as well as reliability and quality,” he added.

Rubinstein said the company is a long-term Heidelberg house and swears by the German manufacturer’s kit. It started out with a secondhand CD 102 before trading up to the new CD 102 that has now been replaced with the CX102-6-LYYL-X3.

Litho Superpak’s Heidelberg plant list also includes an ECO 105 folder-gluer, which was the first in the country, as well as an offline coating unit, which is no longer being used thanks to the coating capabilities of the new CX.

The family-owned business moved into its new premises in the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick earlier this year, with the aim of bringing all its operations under one roof and allowing it to store work for clients.

Rubinstein said: “Our decision to go ahead with the purchase of the CX 102 was made in conjunction with our resolution to build a custom-built premises. As such, we were able to factor the press’ dimensions into the design process and create a plant that accommodates the new press and also gives us room to grow.”
