Local vendor Rapid Machinery gears up for Ipex

The Sydney-based vendor will show its Rapid X1 and Rapid X2 inkjet presses on the stand of European distributor Impression Technologies.

The event marks the first major international showing for the vendor, which has only had a presence in the European inkjet market for the last few years.

Rapid engineering development manager Nick Mansell told ProPrint the vendor “had a very good response to what we’ve shown so far”. Rapid has already notched up more than 100 pre-release orders of X1 and X2 units.

The Rapid X1 is a bench-top roll-to-roll machine, while the X2 is a floor-standing press with a larger roll capacity. Both machines use the locally developed ‘Memjet’ printhead technology and print at nine metres per minute at 1,600×1,600dpi or 18 metres per minute at 1,600x800dpi.

Mansell said the X1 targets small labelling businesses and in-plants, while the X2 is aimed at small printers and designed to work with a range of converting options, including die cutters, varnishing units and hot foil stampers.

Deliveries of the machines will start in July. The presses will be on show on Hall 9, stand F320 at Ipex, which commences next Tuesday, 18 May.

Rapid Machinery was founded by Bruce Mansell in the mid ’70s, and has sold more than 1,100 machines in 54 countries worldwide.
