The Visual Media Association (VMA) has confirmed that entries for the 2025 National Print Awards (NPAs) have officially closed, with judging for all standard categories now completed.
According to the VMA, more than 400 nominations were received for this year’s awards. These submissions were assessed using a new multi-phase judging platform, designed to enhance governance, improve transparency, and ensure fairness throughout the entire process.
“The level of excellence demonstrated this year has been extraordinary,” said Kellie Northwood, CEO of the Visual Media Association.
“Across all entries, our judges were impressed by the calibre of innovation, execution, and strategic thinking. We are now in the final phase of selecting those who have not only excelled in their craft but have contributed significantly to the growth and future of our industry.”
The Print21 Printer of the Year Award, supported by Print21, is a new addition to the Major Awards and is awarded to an individual who demonstrates comprehensive excellence across multiple entries. It recognises both technical mastery and the broader leadership required to thrive in today’s competitive print landscape.
The Lifetime Achievement Award – recently reinstated following strong industry feedback – remains the highest individual honour of the industry.
Awarded by the VMA board of directors, it celebrates a career marked by dedication, influence, and long-standing contributions to the print and visual media community. Recipients are inducted into the Industry Hall of Fame.
“Celebrating leaders who have dedicated their professional lives to our industry is central to the mission of the NPAs,” said Northwood.
“This award is not simply about tenure, but about those who have shaped the industry, mentored peers, and left an enduring legacy.”
Other Major Award categories currently under review include Ricoh Australia Women in Industry, Konica Minolta and Plockmatic Group Emerging Talent of the Year, Environmental Sustainability Achievement, Workplace Culture + Wellbeing Achievement, Industry Employee of the Year and Industry Supplier of the Year.
Phillip Mariette, general manager – operations and event director of Visual Media Association noted the rigour applied to the updated judging process.
“With the move to a fully national model, we introduced enhanced judging protocols that included technical experts, industry leaders, and senior print professionals,” commented Mariette. “This multi-layered approach ensures consistency and reflects the high expectations of our entrants and stakeholders. We are in the final review stage for the Major Awards and look forward to sharing the results with the industry very soon.”
With category winners already selected and preparations well underway for the awards ceremony on Thursday 22 May 2025 in Sydney, excitement is mounting for a night dedicated to industry excellence.
“Each year, the NPAs give us an opportunity to pause and truly honour those driving our industry forward,” furthered Northwood.
“We look forward to sharing the incredible stories behind this year’s Major Award winners with the broader community.”
The VMA extends its thanks to all entrants, judges, sponsors, and partners including Platinum Sponsor HP/Currie Group and Gold Sponsors Ball & Doggett, Fujifilm, Konica Minolta, Plockmatic Group and Ricoh Australia, Silver Sponsors Spicers and Award Category Sponsors CMYKHub, Print & Pack and Smartech.
