Masterbind founder Doug Fowler passes away

Doug Fowler co-founded Masterbind International in 1981, before retiring in 2005 aged 75 when the business was purchased by German firm Renz.

“The business was originally focused on specialised document presentation concepts through the 1980s but evolved into equipment and supply business in the 1990s,” said Doug’s son, Rod, who now manages Renz-Masterbind.

“Doug was instrumental in expanding the utilisation of wire-binding concepts into new document areas in Australia over many years,” said Rod.

Doug was also fondly remembered by Paul Cohen, who co-founded Masterbind International and is now sales director at Renz-Masterbind.

“Doug will be remembered as a successful entrepreneur and businessman, a loving husband, father, grandfather and a loyal friend to myself and mentor to many.”

Doug died unexpectedly at the end of July after a short battle with cancer. He was 81.
