MGI premiers superfast spot UV coater with raised effects

Operating as a standard coater, the JetVarnish 3D can apply spot UV to 3,000 B2 sheets per hour.

The machine can also apply 3D raised effects to more than 2,000 A3 sheets per hour, which makes it the world's fastest digital inkjet spot UV coater, claimed the French manufacturer.

MGI has also doubled the amount of coating that can be applied to 200 microns, which opens up the Braille market.

The JetVarnish 3D features a maximum format size of 52x105cm, which MGI said was ideal for extended size offset applications.

The product is being shown at French exhibition Graphitec, where MGI is also demonstrating the Nova UV, a flood UV coater designed to work inline with MGI Meteor digital presses that can also serve as a standalone unit.
