
According to a report in The Australian, also published by News Limited, the Herald-Sun commenced printing in Hobart last week and ceased air-freighting editions of the newspaper from Melbourne.
“We’ve had problems for some time with the level of air freight service and now we will get editions out earlier and more reliably,” said Herald Sun circulation director Stephen Kaye.
Distribution issues are cited as hampering Fairfax’s bid to print weekday editions of The Age.
Last month, it was announced that national newspaper The Australian is now being printed in Tasmania for the first time in its 45-year history.
News Limited is now considering bundling subscriptions of the Herald Sun with other publications such as The Australian to help drive sales.
