Digital finishing manufacturer Morgana Systems, represented by Ferrostaal in Australia, has broken its own record by a 20 per cent growth in turnover for 2014, compared to the year before. Rayne Simpson Ferrostaal print and finishing general manager says 2014 was a good year for Ferrostaal/Morgana Australia as well, with some 38 machines installed.
He says Ferrostaal will represent Morgana at PrintEx15, held in Sydney Olympic Park from May 13 to 15, showing the latest products from the Morgana stable with up to eight products. “We will also have a senior Morgana technical sales manager on the stand to assist Ferrostaal staff to close proposals with the many visitors expected to attend PrintEX and the Morgana stand,” he says. Morgana Systems provides a range of digital finishing products from entry level creasing units through to highly ‘sophisticated multi-functional systems’ offering a range of finishing capabilities in a single unit. Quen Baum managing director of Morgana Systems says: “Last year presented many challenges for us, but we enjoyed a successful year, and are seeing some of our key export markets continuing to recover from low sales after the recession. “A lot of this growth is coming from the new range of booklet makers manufactured by our parent company, Plockmatic. We also had a very strong year with our range of PUR binders.” Morgana says the company’s growth was also due to some restructuring within the combined Morgana and Plockmatic organisation resulting in the development of two business units – offline sales and inline sales.
Ray Hillhouse, sales and marketing director for Morgana, will take the role of vice president offline business unit.. Scott Russell will head the inline and mailing business unit, which will be based at the Plockmatic headquarters in Stockholm. Hillhouse says, “We have a great opportunity with the combined product ranges of both companies. We need a strong sales team to maintain this. We have doubled our export sales team in the last year and, with more than 80 per cent of our manufactured products being sold outside the UK, this is key to our business plan.” Group CEO Jan Marstorp says adding the Morgana organisation to the group has doubled the turnover of Plockmatic. “We need this new structure to recognise the importance of the offline business to our overall growth plans.” The company says the inline business unit of Plockmatic, which focuses mainly on the sales of booklet making products to key manufacturers such as Xerox, Ricoh and Sharp, has also enjoyed a ‘record sales year’, culminating with Xerox announcing Plockmatic as their Global Innovation Business Partner of the Year for 2014.
