Some 80 people attended the 2013 LIA Heidelberg Graduate of the Year Awards as six graduates were nominated for the top prize.
Moss is currently undergoing his final year apprenticeship at Sinnott Brothers. He says, “It has been amazing working and learning from the professionals at Sinnott Brothers. I am enjoying the work I do especially the touching of jobs, which gives me real satisfaction. My family has supported me the whole way and I would like to thank them.”
Moss will now go up against graduates from the other states as they compete for the GAMAA $15000 Industry Grant which will go to the national winner.
The keynote speaker for the evening was Rugby League legend and sports scientist Wayne Pearce, who encouraged graduates to make sure they never get sick of their job and to keep on learning in life.
Pearce says, “Support from your family and friends is key in growing up. If I didn’t have the support of my family and friends then maybe I wouldn’t have achieved what I did. You must not just do a job because you have to. You must do something that you enjoy and imagine doing for the rest of your life.”
The graduates were presented with plaques by Heidelberg Australia’s sales and branch manager for the Northern Region, Savas Mystakidis.
Other finalists on the night included:
Patricia Teo – Screen Printing, Jet Swimear
Romeo Abellana – Prepress, Anzpac Services
Laura Peatman – Print Finishing, Integrated Marketing Services
Nicole Clark – Lithographic Printing, News Limited
Shanmugan Vadiveloo – Print Finishing, Ligare Book Printers
