David Munro, owner and managing director of
the Foster based business says, “We trawled the second hand market for an
affordable system, looked at imagesetters and platesetters from trade suppliers
as well as private sales, but didn’t feel confident enough in anything we saw
to make a commitment, so we bought new.

“It’s been installed a week or so now and
it has been problem free, our pre–press staff have taken to it like ducks to
water and where in the past we have had to wait on subcontracted film or plate
services, we can now have a plate on a press within minutes of a job being
approved.”

The new plates will be used for the
company’s Heidelberg GTO and MO presses. Munro says, “It’s economical to own,
eco-friendly in that there are no solvents or chemicals involved and it handles
everything from a simple black and white business card right through to full
colour work – we’re anticipating it saving us $10,000 per year on our current
pre-press costs, and that’s besides getting that side of things under our won
roof and in our control.”

results including 175 line halftone full colour work, we can do it in house and
