The new DigiFold Pro combines creasing and folding in a single pass or it can act as a stand-alone creaser, or as a perforator when neither creasing nor folding is required. It uses a newly patented automated creasing technology called DynaCrease and combines this with Morgana’s existing flying knife folding method, which together gives a quality finish without risk of damage to delicate digital substrates, according to Morgana.
DigiFold Pro also has the company’s new PosiFeed feeding system to handle lighter papers and difficult stocks while also allowing the feeder to be piled higher. Morgana says this is significant because of the extra speed of the DigiFold, which can crease and fold at speeds up to 6000 sheets per hour. A touch screen panel controls all functions. The machine is also JDF-ready in anticipation of more users wanting bindery operations to become part of an automated workflow process.
Morgana says the machine can perform a range of folds from simple to the most complex. It takes a large 780 x 385 mm sheet size and handles stock up to 0.4 mm (approx. 400 gsm) including laminated material.
