Oce offers growth opportunities with digital solutions

At just seven metres long it is less than half the length of the Jetstream 2200, and produces half the output. It prints both sides at once onto regular offset stocks. Océ claims market leadership in the webfed digital market, which includes both inkjet and toner engines, with a 26 per cent share. Inkjet, of course, has the benefits of much lower running costs, as well as speed and productivity advantages.

Océ was also showing its new Arizona 550GT wide format printer, it had a Canon imagePress 700 on the stand as the first showing of the new arrangement. Herbert Kielethner, marketing manager for Océ Oceania says, “Jetstream 1000 provides multiple applications for Australian printers, including book printing, direct mail, transactional and newspaper printing. If an offset printer has survived the GFC and is now looking at where profit is to come from then high volume digital is a clear opportunity to differentiate, to provide customers with cost savings and to open up new markets.”

One of the products printed at the show was the Australian Panpa bulletin, on 55gsm newsprint.

Océ says the simplex Océ JetStream 500 and duplex Océ JetStream 1000 are the first inkjet systems in the industry to offer full width duplex in one cabinet. The Océ JetStream 500 model prints approximately 505 A4 (535 letter) images per minute at 600×600 dpi, while the duplex Océ JetStream 1000 delivers up to 1,010 A4 (1,070 letter) images per minute.

The company claims that its Arizona 550GT can produce more than 100 boards in and eight hour shift (125 x 250 cm), print high margin speciality applications on rigid or flexible media or object, produce ink droplets from 6 to 42 picolitres, print on rigid panels up to 125 cm x 250 cm x 50.8 mm and flexible rolls up to 220 cm wide.

Also on the stand was the Océ VarioPrint 6320, which the company claims as the world’s fastest, most productive digital perfecting system clocking in at 336 A4 prints per minute.
