Developed at a cost of more than$150m, Océ CrystalPoint combines the company’s best of both toner and inkjet technology. It utilises patented Océ TonerPearls, which are converted into a gel that is then jetted and crystallised onto a wide variety of media producing, claims Océ, crisp, waterfast high quality images with accurate dot placement.
The 42” printer holds up to six media rolls each holding up to 200 metres of paper. It prints at speeds of up to 31 seconds per sqm, which according to Océ makes it at least twice as fast as traditional inkjet systems currently available.
The system produces professional looking semi-gloss finish on uncoated and recycled paper, offering significant media savings in comparison to coated media. Furthermore, Océ CrystalPoint technology reduces the use of paper coatings that impact the environment. This environmental friendliness extends to the workplace, with no release of harmful ozone, odour or fine powder.
Paul Whitehead, marketing manager of Technical Drawing Systems for Océ-Australia, says he expects the unveiling of the Océ ColorWave 600 at Visual Impact Expo will create wide interest throughout the printing market.
Whitehead says, “The Océ ColorWave 600 uses cutting edge technology that offers high speed output and ability to print on plain paper.
The colour output is exceptional with sharp lines, high readability of detail and smooth, even area fills. The Océ CrystalPoint delivery gives strong adhesion to uncoated media with an absence of feathering seen in traditional inkjet systems. Users are really going to appreciate its silk shine look.
“With the ability to load six media rolls and to hold large toner cartridges users get exceptionally long print runs without the need for human intervention.”
Whitehead says that the Océ CrystalPoint will be the base technology for future generation Océ printing devices over the coming 10 to 15 years.
Also in the news, Océ’s new JetStream full colour, roll-fed inkjet printer has taken off in Europe with five sales of the high volume, high profile unit being recorded in the weeks since drupa, where it was a centre of attention at the Océ stand.
