The web offset and sheetfed provider took out first place in the books and manuals, catalogues and inaugural magazines categories, placed second in leaflets and flyers and digital marketing and was awarded Best in Show. With branches in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, Offset Alpine specialises in magazine, catalogue, corporate and commercial printing, and lead several Australian print outfits placing in the regional competition. Fuji Xerox says it received more than 240 entries this year, an increase of 11 per cent compared to 2012’s numbers. Two new categories, magazines and art reproduction, were added to keep pace with submissions in different areas of print – both won by Australian firms. Mike Braggins, senior manager of marketing communication with Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific, says, “We are now in our sixth year, and I think finally Australia has made its mark. Every year I think it becomes more and more difficult, we get more and more entries and the quality goes up. These awards are well deserved, as the judges find it more difficult every year.” Other Australian firms to be honoured include Enviro Print Group with first place in POS materials and second in digital and offset together, The Project Group scoring second place in brochures, Collingwood Print Group picking up a silver in catalogues and Bluestar Print with a first in the inaugral art reproduction award. Fuji Xerox says the entries are judged by independent experts with a five point criteria to consider print quality, appropriate use of digital technology, innovation, business effectiveness and overall aesthetics. The criteria aims to balance quality with the document’s ability to achieve the desired result.
