Offset Alpine wins first Sappi Elephant

The Elephant Trophy is the top accolade in the competition and can only be won after having successfully won gold in the Regional awards which Offset Alpine had done in June of this year.

Craig Dunsford, general manager, Offset Alpine told Australian Printer “The Sappi Awards involve a rigorous process involving judges from all regions of the world and some of the world’s best printers for us to benchmark against. We have reached the finals four times previously, so to finally secure the first elephant for Australia is rewarding for all our staff, our clients and our suppliers. We are also proud to have helped to promote the skills and craft that our Australian industry has to offer.”

Dunsford says, “We fight hard to add value to our clients print communication and do not see any enjoyment or long term benefit to our industry in being a commoditised or below average supplier.”

Capabilities+ was produced and printed by Offset Alpine, it was printed on Hannoart Satin a woodfree coated paper distributed in Australia by K.W.Doggett Fine Paper.

Sappi Australia and Offset Alpine Printing jointly hosted a celebration for approximately 140 people at the Taronga Zoo Conference Centre.

Dunsford says, “We also want to promote print and paper as an attractive, high quality and effective marketing and advertising channel. We differentiate ourselves and our industry from the sales clutter that exists across so many different channels available to media buyers and advertisers today. “

“By producing high quality, high impact products with our clients, helps to demonstrate that print and paper have a good story tell and we are proud to be part of that story.” Dunsford concludes.

John Walker, managing director, Sappi Australia told Australian Printer, “The Elephant symbolises Sappi’s South African heritage as well as the qualities of strength and courage required of printers who strive for Print Excellence.”

Walker says, “The trophy itself is indeed a work of art created by world renowned sculptor Donald Greig.”
