On-Demand buys Australia’s first ColorStream 3500 Inkjet

Owner of On-Demand, Bruce Peddlesden, says the new machine will also boost the company’s publishing services, powering high speed colour output.

The Océ ColorStream 3500 system is a twin engine model printing which has been upgraded from 75 meters per minute to 100 ppm with a print width of 540 mm allowing more than 1000 A4-size ppm with average volumes up to 12 million A4 pages per month at 600 x 600 dpi resolution.

Peddlesden said On-Demand has been looking at the possibilities of inkjet for more than six months and was impressed by the Océ ColorStream 3500 when he saw it Océ’s Open House in Poing, Germany, recently.

“Our publishing services have been outgrowing our current capabilities and inkjet will boost them considerably,” he says. “At the same time, we have a large variable data clientele and the ColorStream 3500 will enable us to expand these services into full transactional printing.

“We were also drawn to the system’s flexibility, with its ability to switch between full colour mode and black and white.

“Obviously it’s a big investment for us and it’s our intention to hit the ground running when the system is delivered to us early in October. We are planning a launch function in November to introduce our customers to the new equipment.”

The new printer will be connected to On-Demand using the company’s Océ Prisma software.
