Opaque inkjet film released by Kodak

Kodak is offering a new inkjet film for display graphics that features a back coating to block out light. The premium rapid-dry white film, in matte, 5mm, is completely opaque; light shining from behind does not detract from the graphics due to the coating. CJ Forker of Brand Management Group (BMG), which will distribute the film, says, “The most common application where a truly opaque graphic film makes a difference is with banner stands.

“Regardless of the lighting situation, this film ensures that you won’t see the hardware behind the display or lose any of the image’s impact.” The film is a lay-flat water-resistant polyester with a bright-white printable surface that aims to maximise colour fidelity and accuracy. Compatible with dye and pigmented inks, Kodak says it will not smudge or show fingerprints, and is also scratch and abrasion resistant. It can be laminated using thermal and pressure-sensitive films, but does not require lamination for short-term applications. The film is available through BMG’s worldwide reseller network in 91cm (36”), 106cm (42”) and 127cm (50”) widths on 30m (100 foot) roll lengths.
