Ian Krawitz, Founder of 10 Thousand Trees, will provide an overview of the use of paper and paper products in Australia, go through the cycle of paper and how stakeholders can help make it sustainable. He will also explain how the 10 Thousand Trees program works and how a company can benefit.
The 10 Thousand Trees initiative is designed to help make paper a sustainable resource and reduce the need for deforestation in the long term. They plant trees as a crop here in Australia and supply that back into the paper industry.
Every 12 years they harvest the trees and all proceeds go into planting and managing more trees. Projections show that this effectively doubles the number of trees every cycle and 10 trees planted today would give you 10,000 trees in 120 years and a great positive legacy.
Also on the night, John Brannan, sales manager – printing applications, Network Marketing, will be presenting on Stone-Paper as an alternative to paper and synthetic plastic printing substrates as it has a lower environmental impact and energy footprint.
Stone-Paper is made from calcium carbonate is 100 per cent tree free, tear resistant, creates no water pollution and is easy to process and print.
