PaperlinX plans to grow
iMedia into a national supplier in the immediate future, where it will rival existing
national players such as Anitech, GBC and Starleaton.
iMedia joins Spicers
Paper and Dalton under the PaperlinX Merchanting banner and
will complement the group's offering, with specialist knowledge in this rapidly
developing market segment.
iMedia supplies
hardware from the likes of Agfa, HP, Canon, Epson and Roland DG, as well as a range
of inks and media, which are currently sourced from a mix of manufacturers
located in Europe and Asia.
The company was
established by Chris Lewis-Williams in 1992, initially to supply thermal fax
papers, then it entered wide format supplies in 2000. Lewis-Williams will
remain at the company as general manager, with a brief to take the business national.
He says, "The opportunity to become part of PaperlinX was irresistible. Our
customers will receive the benefits of partnering with the biggest paper merchanting
business in the country. For myself the opportunity to grow into a national
player backed by the professionalism of PaperlinX is tremendous."
PaperlinX already
operates wide format divisions in some of its overseas markets, particularly in
Europe and the US, so is well experienced in meeting the requirements of the
wide format sector, and the group says it will synergise this experience to
help realise the iMedia expansion strategy across Australasia
The acquisition marks
PaperlinX's entry into the digital solutions market at a time when it says is
important to gain a strong foothold. It also bolsters its ongoing expansion of
sign and display offerings, opening up a whole new range of options to
PaperlinX's existing customer base.
PaperlinX says the
acquisition seems a natural one, as iMedia shares many of the same core values.
iMedia continually tests and invests in new products and equipment to ensure it
remains at the forefront of market expectations. Future-focused thinking is a key
to the PaperlinX commitment to exemplary service for existing and new customers
alike.
