Stephan Peters’ Pegras company is launching a new range of coatings into the Australian market, which he says give UV gloss levels despite being a water based coating. The Pearltec coatings can also be used to provide a pre-print coating for digital inkjet print systems. Peters says, “The water based coatings will also allow digital inkjet printers to use uncoated stocks, as they will even out the surface, and prevent the ink from going into the paper. They are an invisible coating that closes up the surface.”
Peters says the Pearltec coatings for digital, offset, and flexo printing, can be applied with inline or offline anilox systems. Peters says, “The high gloss level is made possible because of the technology in manufacturing the coating. The chemistry is markedly different from other coatings, partly because these coatings originally came from outside the graphic arts industry.”
